“WORKING OUT AT HOME JUST ISN’T FOR ME.”

We get it, no one really wants to workout from home. Home is home, it’s the place where you go to relax, escape the day job, escape the busy life you lead outside of it.

Gym kit is usually only worn in the house for chilling in, am I right?

Well things are different right now and just as you bought yourself a new desk and kitted out the spare bedroom for your new office set up you should think about doing the same thing for your gym space.

With a small amount of effort you can make working out from home less of a chore and something you actually don’t mind doing. They key is to create the environment that’s right.

CREATE THE PERFECT SPACE

We are quite silly as humans really, everything has to be ‘right’ in order for us to do something. So rather than hold on to the idea that your house must look a certain way at all times like the front cover of ‘country manor magazine’ , you could treat your home as a function or solution to creating a fitter and healthier you.

You see if it wasn’t for our poor overall health we wouldn’t be faced with such harsh lockdowns, take a look at this from WHO.

Worldwide obesity has nearly tripled since 1975.

  • In 2016, more than 1.9 billion adults, 18 years and older, were overweight. Of these over 650 million were obese.

  • 39% of adults aged 18 years and over were overweight in 2016, and 13% were obese.

  • Most of the world’s population live in countries where overweight and obesity kills more people than underweight.

  • 38 million children under the age of 5 were overweight or obese in 2019.

  • Over 340 million children and adolescents aged 5-19 were overweight or obese in 2016.

  • Obesity is preventable.

COVID is dangerous because for the large majority of the worlds population we are already sick. So knowing these statistics you can see why I might vouch for installing a pair of olympic rings in my house over the latest ice cream maker or microwave/oven/deep fat fryer.
