Are you the right fit for Solv? It might come as a surprise that we care if you’re the right person for us as much as you care if we are the right gym for you.
When it comes to choosing a coaching service you will most likely make a decision based on costs, culture and facility as well as deciding if we align with your goals and motivations behind taking out a new gym membership. Over the years we have found that there are just so many more factors to be considered that determine yours and our success when it comes to coaching clients.
So how do you know if we are right for you? We can probably answer that by sharing with you what is right for us.
Some of the things we look for and what our members have in common when specifically looking to join our group training services;
You already exercise 3-6 times per week.
Exercise is a part of your lifestyle and maybe always has been. It may not have always been to the extent you hoped for (we can help you with that bit) but when asked what you previously did before us or what you are currently doing, you would be able to supply a brief exercise history or list of what you are currently doing that doesn’t require much effort/motivation but something you just have to do. As coaches, we are busy writing class plans, teaching technique and coaching motivated members to be better versions of themselves. We won’t be ringing you to see why you’ve missed a session or why you didn’t go to bed on time for you 5.45am CrossFit class. When exercise is already a habit, group training is the best fit for these types of people. If you’re reading this and thinking “well that’s not me” don’t worry, we just won’t recommend you join on a group membership. For those that struggle with exercising regularly we will point you in the direction of 1-2-1 training where we can help you with accountability and building new habits around health and exercise.
2. You feel like there is a lid on your fitness.
You know there is more to fitness than running on a treadmill for 40 minutes, hitting a weight session separately to your ‘cardio’ workouts and making some time in the week to ‘get your steps in.’ You also probably know that you don’t have to live your life counting calories. You might be okay with both truths, “You don’t need to count calories to lose weight” and “You need to eat less calories to lose weight.”
You are ready for CrossFit if you’re looking for that next level that bridges the gap between going to the gym and sport. Group CrossFit sits perfectly between the two and allows exercisers to express themselves like never before. You’re ready to learn new and challenging skills such as ring dips, muscle ups, olympic lifts and double unders. You’re ready to leave behind the two hour long training sessions in the gym, pre-workout, post workout, protein bar is life mentality and replacing it instead with smart, effective and scientific training.
3. You’re not overly concerned with looks.
The fitness industry is plagued with male trainers on steroids all year round and numerous trainers developing eating disorders in order to achieve that chiselled look everyone is after. With CrossFit, only what you can and can’t do matters which is a much nicer approach to fitness both mentally and physically. It doesn’t matter how big, small, flat, round, tall and small you are. Anyone can give this a go and you won’t suffer nearly as much trying to shape your body to be a particular size. CrossFit empowers people allowing you to let go of any insecurities you have with your body replacing it with ability and confidence in ones self. Although looks might be important to you it is not nearly the main reason for you to exercise.
